"Grey's Anatomy" creator and head writer Shonda Rhimes is talking about the fates of Izzy, George and the Post-It wedding.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the Emmy nominee hints at what lies beyond Thursday's night's big finale (see the ET recap if you missed it).

Responding to rumors that both Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight asked to be released from their contracts and leave the show, Shonda says, "I think Katherine's stated publicly that she's happy to stay. I think that there have been lots of rumors about T.R., but T.R.'s never said anything. Take from it what you will."

She dispels the idea that this season's ending playing off those rumors to generate buzz for the show, however coincidental that may be. "Every year at the beginning of the season I pitch what the end of the season is going to be," she says. "I literally sat down and pitched the last 10 minutes of this season at the beginning of the season, so we were headed towards the place that we knew we were going to go."

When asked if George or Izzy lives, she replies coyly, "I don't know that you should be saying 'which one of them lives and which one of them dies.' I know what happens to the characters."

Meanwhile, on the subject of Meredith and Derek, Shonda believe she gave the viewers what they wanted while staying true to the characters.

"Their wedding was a Post-it note," she says. We had a big series of discussions about it in the writers' room. I felt very strongly -- very very strongly -- that the last thing Meredith Grey would do is put on a wedding dress and walk down an aisle. It just felt wrong to me, Meredith being Meredith. And the Post-it wedding will have big reverberations next season."
